Ingka Group, OX2 plan wind and hydrogen project off the coast of Sweden

Ingka Group’s – IKEA’s largest retailer – investment arm has applied for a permit to construct an offshore wind and hydrogen production project in Sweden.

Together with OX2, Ingka Investments has plans to construct 207 wind turbines 50km off the Swedish coast to provide 3.1GW of renewable power.

In addition to the wind project, the pair also applied for offshore hydrogen production with a maximum capacity to produce 370,000 tonnes per year. In addition to hydrogen, by-product oxygen from electrolysis would be used to reoxygenate the Baltic Sea under a pilot project.
